Total Health Expenditures by Source of Finance, 1975

The chart shows the distribution of total health expenditures in 1975 by source of funds. In 1975, 71% of total health expenditures were accounted for by provincial/territorial governments, 24% by the private sector, 3% by direct federal expenditures on health, and 1% each by social security funds and municipal governments. Although provincial/territorial governments accounted for 71% of total health expenditures in 1975, the federal government supported these provincial/territorial expenditures through fiscal transfers.
