Notice to Stakeholders: Consultation on Proposed Regulatory Amendments - Dental X-ray Equipment

The purpose of this notice is to inform stakeholders that Health Canada is seeking feedback on proposed amendments to the Radiation Emitting Devices Regulations (Dental X-ray equipment). These proposed regulatory amendments were pre-published in Canada Gazette, Part I on June 18, 2016 for a 75-day comment period, and would apply to dental X-ray equipment manufactured for sale, re-sale, import or lease in Canada. While the existing regulations are protective of health, they are no longer aligned with the current international standards of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), which reflect the latest radiation safety requirements of dental x-ray equipment.  The proposed amendments aim to strengthen Canada’s radiation safety requirements on both existing and new dental X-ray technologies.

How to Get Involved

This consultation is open for comment from June 18, 2016 to September 1, 2016.
