Service standards and performance information for fiscal year 2020 to 2021

Health Canada

As part of its ongoing commitment to provide quality client service, Health Canada has developed service standards. Service standards state the level of performance that citizens can reasonably expect to receive from Health Canada under normal circumstances.

This report covers the 2020 to 2021 fiscal year. A fiscal year runs from April 1 to March 31.

While performance targets were met or exceeded for the majority of Health Canada program areas in 2020-21, the department experienced challenges in maintaining desired service levels in certain areas primarily due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the re-allocation of resources to support the Government of Canada’s response. Overall, these declines are temporary and remedial measures have since been implemented, with some services having resumed meeting performance targets again.
